Civil Defense teams in Al-Ahsa demolished 13 dilapidated buildings in several districts during the past few days. The rundown buildings posed a danger to the area after becoming dens for anti-social elements. The owners of these buildings did not respond to the directives of the concerned authorities to raze or renovate them or appoint security guards to watch them. In addition, inspection tours of 2,200 shops resulted in the closure of 11 shops for not abiding by security and safety conditions. Lt. Col. Mansour Bin Muhammad Al-Dowsari, spokesperson of the Eastern Province Civil Defense, said the safety teams intensified their safety inspection tours of the tourist sites, rest houses and recreation parks during the past few days.
