Sawani department store has signed a contract with Rana Salam to design the new logo for its Sawani Department Stores. The design will reflect what Sawani Department Store represents as a group that has a great history of merging East and West, providing the best of products and services to its clients. Salam said “it is a great honor for me to be given the chance to redesign Al-Sawani Department Stores logo,” adding that “the logo should reflect the history and heritage of the group and its new image.” Salam, a graduate of Central St. Martins and the Royal College of Arts, has been running her own London-based design studio for over a decade, specializing in brand creation and re-branding, producing distinctive designs for clients which include Harvey Nichols, Villa Moda, Liberty's, Boutique 1, the V&A, the Arts Council, inIVA, and Paul Smith. Her work celebrates Middle Eastern popular art and culture by merging vibrant Arab imagery with the latest technology to create a unique vision of graphic design and art direction. Muhammad Hafiz, executive director, said “the decision to change the Sawani Department Store's logo was not easy. We are proud of our heritage and know how our clients trust our logo but we are looking at the future with enthusiasm and looking forward to what we will be doing with our partners in the coming years.” Since its founding in 1976, Al-Sawani Group is now considered as one of the largest distinguished companies in the region, with over 700 selling outlets in more than 13 countries, attracting more than 40 name brands in the clothing business.
