JEDDAH — Saudi Arabian Airlines will operate direct flights from Tabuk to Cairo from Mar. 30, earlier than originally planned. Saudia spokesman Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad Al-Fahd told Saudi Gazette that commencement of the new route has been advanced from the earlier scheduled date of April 15. “Tabuk will be the sixth station from which direct flights to Egypt are operated. “The five others are Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Madinah and Abha.” He said the move was in line with Saudia's strategy to promote its network of international flights according to air traffic requirements and economic feasibility. Al-Fahd said Saudia is at present flying to three stations in Egypt, namely Cairo, Alexandria and Sharm El-Sheikh. He said there would be three weekly flights from Tabuk to Cairo and vice versa on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. “The flight from Tabuk will take off at 11.15 a.m., reach Cairo at noon local time and depart from there at 1 p.m. to arrive in the Kingdom at 3.40 p.m.,” he said. A total of 1.8 million passengers were transported between the Kingdom and Egypt last year on board 9,956 flights.
