Frontier Guards have arrested a gang of 19 fugitive smugglers and seized a huge cache of drugs, an Interior Ministry spokesman told SPA Monday. The gang, comprising 18 Saudis and an expatriate, had been absconding since 2007 after killing a security personnel and two other soldiers in a shootout with Frontier Guards between Sharoura and Al-Kharikheer governorates. The smugglers managed to escape with two tons of drugs and 350 kg of Hashish. But the Frontier Guards kept on their trail and finally managed to locate their hideout. The Guards also arrested those who provided shelter to the smugglers and attended to those culprits injured in the shootout.
