RIYADH — A number of private establishments and businessmen have accused the Kingdom's banks of refusing to open bank accounts for low-paid workers. The Labor Ministry, under its Salary Protection Program, has made it imperative on all private companies and establishments to deposit the salaries of their employees in their bank accounts. The businessmen alleged that the ministry is singling them out for not responding to its program while banks are refusing to open accounts for their workers because their salaries are low. Director of the labor office in Riyadh said they would look into the matter.
