SNL

Can you believe that “Saturday Night Live” is now 40 years old? The iconic NBC show just celebrated its 40th anniversary on Sunday, Feb. 15, and to mark the occasion, they released the SNL app last week, which is now our App of the Week.

Chances are that even if you never watched the show religiously every week, you still saw some comedic sketches from it every now and then. In this free app, users can go through thousands of sketches from the 40-season library, and everything is organized by season, episode, or cast member.

And if that isn't enough for you, there is even a custom SNL emoji keyboard that you can spread the cheer with. And if you're looking for current episodes, there are links to the current season, though you have to view them through the NBC app.

But that's not all — there are exclusive videos from the vault that you won't be able to find anywhere else, including the Cut for Time sketches. You can even mark your favorites for going back to later and share them on Facebook. The more you watch, the more the app learns what makes you laugh, thanks to their recommendation engine that makes sure you never miss a thing. The app provides a seamless and elegant viewing experience for all of your Saturday Night Live needs.

We are longtime fans of Saturday Night Live here at AppAdvice, so we are pleased to have access to their full library of clips over the years. If you're a fan of the comedic series, then you need to check this app out for yourself. You can get SNL on the iPhone App Store for free.

Saver 2

Need help keeping track of your money this year? Then you will want to get your hands on our Honorable Mention this week, Saver 2 by Alex Solonsky.

Saver 2 is the iOS 7 and 8 revamp of the original Saver that came out several years ago. The app was well known for it's simple design and ease of use, and all of that is still intact, but with a fresh coat of paint to make it fit in with the modernized iterations of iOS. And to top things off, the app is fast and responsive, with some fantastic features for those who are willing to commit to the app for all of their finance tracking needs.

The app is split up into different sections that you can access from the bottom toolbar: Balance, Monthly Graph, History, and Goals. There is also the plus button that allows you to add a new expense or income from any screen. Budgets are also supported, in case you do need to set limits on spending each month or week.

As you add an entry, the keypad input is also a full on calculator, so you can do basic calculations without missing a beat. There are plenty of categories that should fit your needs, and the app provides users with the ability to add tags, notes, and even photos to the entry if you tap again on the selected category. You can glance at your spending or total incomes for the month with the circular charts or history, and the app can generate full reports if needed. Goals are a nice addition for those times you are setting aside money for something bigger.

If you enjoy Saver 2 and want to commit to it as your main finance app, then there are two annual subscriptions that you can purchase via IAP: Saver Plus ($9.99) and Saver Pro ($19.99). The Plus membership will get you the ability to edit or add new categories, unlimited incomes, recurring entries, custom budget cycles, reminders, and locations for entries. The Pro will get you all of the Plus features, as well as multi-currency, advanced analytics, cloud syncing and backup through iCloud, and data export through PDF or CSV.

We liked the original Saver many years back, so we're glad to see it back on the App Store. If you're interested in a slick expense tracking app, then take a look at Saver 2. You can find it on the iPhone App Store for $2.99 with in-app purchases for the Plus and Pro subscriptions.
