Canadiens goaltender Carey Price made 25 saves for his fifth shutout of the season and the 30th of his career. Price stopped winger Gustav Nyquist from the bottom of the right circle with 2:48 left. Canadiens left-winger Max Pacioretty added an empty-net goal with 10 seconds remaining. Montreal (37-15-4) earned its fifth win in six games. Goalie Jimmy Howard made 27 saves but couldn't keep Detroit (31-14-10) from losing its third in a row. Rangers 6, Islanders 5: Defenseman Kevin Klein scored the tiebreaking goal with 4:32 left in the third period and the New York Rangers overcame three two-goal deficits to edge the New York Islanders. The Rangers trailed 3-1 early in the second period and 5-3 less than four minutes into the third. However, Derek Stepan and Martin St. Louis scored 1:37 apart to tie the game before the midpoint of the third. The Rangers (34-16-5) earned a fourth straight win which pulled them into a tie for second place in the Metropolitan Division with the Pittsburgh Penguins, two points behind the Islanders (37-19-1). Canucks 3, Wild 2: Rookie center Bo Horvat and defenseman Alex Biega, playing in his first NHL game, scored third-period goals as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Minnesota Wild. Biega gave the Canucks a 3-1 lead at 11:54 of the third when he boomed a shot from the point that screened Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk couldn't see. Center Henrik Sedin added a goal and an assist for the Canucks (32-21-3). Nino Niederreiter scored twice for Minnesota, and center Jordan Schroeder had two assists. The Wild (28-21-7) saw their franchise-tying, 10-game points streak (8-0-2) end. Jets 5, Oilers 4 (SO): The Winnipeg Jets took another step toward the playoffs with a nail-biting shootout victory over the Edmonton Oilers. The win improved the Jets record to 30-19-10 and solidified their hold on the first wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Flames 4, Bruins 3 (OT): Enhancing their reputation as a comeback team, the Calgary Flames scored two third-period goals to erase a deficit, then beat the Boston Bruins on defenseman TJ Brodie's goal with two seconds remaining in overtime. Hurricanes 6, Senators 3: The Carolina Hurricanes found their way back to the winning track with a win over the Ottawa Senators.
