JEDDAH — Minister of Labor Adel Fakeih said on Thursday a new contractor who was awarded a stalled project can transfer to his sponsorship workers of the project's old contractor without the latter's consent. The ministry will complete all technical procedures for the transfer of such workers, he said, while clarifying details of the transfer of workers in line with a decision by the Council of Ministers in this regard. The Cabinet had ruled that the state should bear the expenses for the transfer of such workers. Fakeih said the workers, including laborers, technicians and supervisors, will be transferred to the new contractor only if he wished to employ them to complete the project. If the new contractor is not in need of these workers, they shall be deported at the expense of the old contractor.
