JEDDAH — Ebsar Foundation will start on Monday a campaign aimed at early detection of visual problems among school children in Jeddah. A total of 240,000 kindergarten and elementary school children are expected to benefit from the campaign. Mohamed Tawfiq Bello, secretary-general of Ebsar, said eye examinations will be carried out from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, and each test will take six minutes. Bello, who is also director of Ebsar's National Campaign for Early Detection of Visual Problems among Children, said the first phase of the campaign, which will conclude on April 30, is expected to cost SR8.45 million. The society has provided training to 28 optometrists, 10 ophthalmologists, 59 employees from the health sector and eight employees from the education sector to carry out the campaign.
