146 overstayers nabbed in Jeddah By Ibrahim Alawi JEDDAH – A Passports Department campaign in Jeddah rounded up146 overstayers at dawn Friday. The violators were running their own businesses in residential apartments. The police arrested a number of Thai workers, both male and female, who were running a tailoring shop in their apartment designing and stitching thobes. Some Indonesian maids tried to mislead the officials conducting the campaign. Several Filipinos were also arrested. About 42 women from Ethiopia and Indonesia working as housemaids on hourly basis were also arrested during the crackdown. – Okaz/SG Court of Cassation OKs sentence against three By Mansour Al-Shihri RIYADH – The Court of Cassation in Riyadh has endorsed a District Court verdict convicting an expatriate and two Saudis of theft besides possession of ammunition. The court sentenced one of the Saudis to five years in prison and 800 lashes and the second to two years and 90 lashes while the expatriate was given two years and 300 lashes. – Okaz/SG Two held on stabbing charge By Abdul Hadi Al-Rabeei TAIF – A security patrol succeeded in arresting two young Saudis for allegedly stabbing another compatriot here on Friday. A security patrol found a profusely bleeding 17-year-old lying on the ground here. The youth had been stabbed on his neck, forehead and hands and his legs were tied up. Investigations revealed that all three were staying in a furnished apartment under false names. The three were relatives and the stabbing took place after a dispute that broke out among them. – Okaz/SG Two executed RIYADH – Two Saudi nationals were executed here after being convicted for peddling big quantities of drug pills, a statement by the Ministry of Interior said here on Friday. Muhammad Bin Kareem Bin Tawari Al-Enzy and Ali Sadeq Nizal Al-Khald were arrested for promoting and selling narcotics in the Kingdom.
