No room for debate over woman's travel obligation

This refers to the post “A woman must travel with a guardian” (Feb. 8). In Islam it is mandatory and not an option. There is no room for opinions as the Hadith is clear: Sahih Bukhari 3:85, as narrated by Ibn Abbas. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “A woman should not travel except with a guardian (mahram), and no man may visit her except in the presence of a guardian (mahram).” A man got up and said, “O Allah's Apostle! I intend to go to such and such an army and my wife wants to perform Haj.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said (to him), “Go along with her (to Haj).”
