HAFR AL-BATIN — Civil Defense firefighters extinguished a fire that broke out in a sponge factory in Al-Khaldiyah district of Hafr Al-Batin. Eastern Province Civil Defense spokesman Col. Mansour Al-Dowsary said the fire started in a truck loaded with sponges that was parked near the factory. The vehicle caught fire when it collided with a highly voltage utility pole. The massive fire engulfed the truck and completely gutted the factory. Civil Defense firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control and no injuries were reported.
