NEW YORK — Klay Thompson set an NBA record with 37 third-quarter points as he led the Golden State Warriors to a 126-101 victory over the Sacramento Kings Friday. Thompson finished with a career-high 52 during his record-setting night. The NBA's previous record for most points in a single quarter was 33, shared by George Gervin of San Antonio and Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks. “They showed me the third quarter stat sheet — to see an NBA record was humbling,” Thompson told reporters. Thompson made all 13 of his field goal attempts including nine three-pointers during his torrid quarter. “I was trying to shoot until I missed,” Thompson said. “It was one of those nights where it felt like everything was good.” Hawks 103, Thunder 93: Oklahoma City came in with a mini-streak but the Thunder could not stop the Atlanta Hawks from a team-record 15th straight victory. Paul Millsap had 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Hawks (36-8) won for the 29th time in the past 31 games. Russell Westbrook scored 22 points for Oklahoma City, which had won four straight. Kevin Durant added 21 points for the Thunder (22-21) but made just eight of 22 shots from the floor. Bulls 102, Mavericks 98: Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler scored 20 points each and the Chicago Bulls topped Dallas to earn a win in the second of back-to-back games. Having defeated San Antonio Thursday, the Bulls held off the Mavericks to improve to 29-16. Dirk Nowitzki scored a team-high 24 for the Mavericks (30-14). Rockets 113, Suns 111: James Harden scored 33 points and hit the game-winning jumper from 20 feet at the buzzer to give the Houston Rockets a win over the Phoenix Suns. Donatas Motiejunas added 15 for the Rockets (30-14), who led by 16 points with 6:11 to play before the Suns put on a furious rally, tying the game on a three-point play by forward Markieff Morris with 16.6 seconds left. But guard Harden held the ball out by midcourt before backing down Phoenix (26-19) defender P.J. Tucker and hitting the game-winning shot. Cavaliers 129, Hornets 89: The Cleveland Cavaliers enjoyed their biggest halftime lead in franchise history, 75-40, and rolled easily to a victory against the Charlotte Hornets. LeBron James had 25 points, nine assists and six rebounds in a season-low 27 minutes. J.R. Smith scored 21 points — all on 3-pointers — as the Cavs set a season high in scoring, won their most lopsided game of the season and won their fifth straight. Pelicans 92, Timberwolves 84: Anthony Davis recorded 21 points and 12 rebounds and the New Orleans Pelicans held off the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves drew as close as three in the fourth quarter before key shots from forward Anthony Davis in the final minutes provided New Orleans (22-21) enough of a boost to put Minnesota (7-35) away for good. Spurs 99, Lakers 85: Kawhi Leonard produced 15 points and 14 rebounds, helping the San Antonio Spurs defeat the Los Angeles Lakers. It was the seventh straight loss for the Lakers (12-32), who played without guard Kobe Bryant who suffered a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder on Wednesday and is believed to be out for the season. San Antonio improved to 28-17. In other games it was: Heat 89, Pacers 87; Knicks 113, Magic 106; Raptors 91, 76ers 86; Celtics 100, Nuggets 99. — Agencies
