Court hears Kalashnikov killer confessions By Muhammad Al-Solami YANBU – A Yanbu court heard Tuesday the testimony of a man accused of shooting dead a Yemeni salesman to death in front of his shop on Al-Hanan Street. The accused, named as B. Al-Johani, told investigators Monday that his crime was related to a dispute dating back to Ramadan , but investigations continue to look into the possibility of other motives. Al-Johani shot several times in the direction of the shop where his victim Muhammed Nassir worked, before throwing the magazine away and fleeing on a motorcycle. Police are still searching for the Kalashnikov rifle used in the killing. – Okaz/SG Family of five killed in car crash By Ayman Saidalani MADINA – Five family members were killed when a truck smashed into the left side of their SUV on Omluj-Madina Road Tuesday, authorities said. The father, mother, and three children perished immediately in the crash while a son, 6, and a daughter, 8, survived it, only to be taken into the emergency room at Madina Hospital, said Abdulrazaq Hafiz, spokesman of the Madina Health Department. The son was in critical condition and was immediately admitted into the ICU to be on breathing machine with head fractures and chest bleeding, he added. – Okaz/SG Arab arrested for ‘Ruqya' treatment By Amira Al-Dhikr Allah AL-AHSA– Police in Al-Ahsa have detained an Arab man in his fifties accused of using “Ruqya” Qur'anic treatment to have his way with female clients. The treatment, in some cases, involves physical contact with clients and recitation from the Qur'an. The Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice discovered what the individual had been up to and reported him to the police who are continuing their investigations. – Okaz/SG Youths take law in own hands By Abdulhadi Al-Rubei'i TAIF – Two youths upset at works being carried out in a main street in the southern Taif district of Al-Sir took matters in their own hands by stealing the workers' bulldozer. The youths had asked workmen to stop the work which they were legally obliged to perform on the main road, but when they refused the pair decided to resolve the issue by snatching their only means to complete their work. The man decided not to appeal the verdict after being informed of his right to do so. – Okaz/SG Practitioners of harassment publicly shamed By Huda Yousif TABUK – A shopping mall in Tabuk has taken the decision to publicly display the photographs of men who are arrested for harassing females at a mall here in efforts to put an end to a recent increase in the activity. The new tactic, recently introduced at the center, displays photographs of “harassers” accompanied by their names and a warning.The photographs remain on display for three months after an arrest is made by security guards. An official at the mall said harassment had declined noticeably since the new measures had been taken.
