ANAHEIM, California — Sami Vatanen scored in the sixth round of the shootout to help the Anaheim Ducks celebrate the retirement of former star Teemu Selanne's No. 8 jersey with a 5-4 victory over the Winnipeg Jets in the NHL Sunday. Eight months after Selanne retired following a career spent mostly in Anaheim, the Ducks raised his No. 8 to the rafters in an emotional pregame ceremony for the team's most popular player and the 11th-leading goal-scorer in NHL history. “I feel very lucky in so many different ways,” Selanne told the sellout crowd while blinking back tears. “You guys have made this a happy place for us. It's overwhelming. You guys have treated me so well. Thanks for making this life so special.” Rickard Rakell scored the tying goal with 2:03 left for the Ducks, capping the first multipoint game of his NHL career with two goals and two assists. Rakell and Ryan Kesler scored shootout goals to keep the game alive after Blake Wheeler and Evander Kane scored early for Winnipeg. Mark Scheifele missed in the sixth round before Vatanen beat Ondrej Pavelec to clinch the NHL-leading Ducks' third win in four games. Blackhawks 4, Wild 1: Marian Hossa, Brad Richards and Bryan Bickell each had one goal and one assist to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 4-1 home win over the slumping Minnesota Wild. Goalie Corey Crawford made 36 saves as Chicago, which had lost four of its previous eight games, improved to 28-13-2. The Wild have lost five straight and 11 of their last 13 games, falling to 18-18-5. Panthers 4, Oilers 2: The Florida Panthers continued their most successful road trip of the season with a 4-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. Right-winger Jimmy Hayes scored the lone goal of the first period and the Panthers never trailed as they won for the fourth time in five games on their western road swing. Edmonton lost at home for the 16th time in 24 games. The Oilers were 9-1 in their previous 10 games against Florida. — Agencies
