If Dubai believes in superlatives, now is a time to crown them for it. The New Year came to Dubai with a host of excitement, celebrities and tourists from all around the world with much deserved worldwide attention. And of course, they broke another world record. Hundreds of thousands of people gathered on social media and shared videos and pictures of New Year's celebrations hosted around prime landmarks in Dubai. Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world was center stage for New Year's fireworks display that wowed audiences all over the world. Burj Khalifa stumped audiences below with a record breaking LED-illuminated facade using 70,000 LED bulbs with over 100,000 brackets that were linked using 55,000 metres of cabling for visual display. 200 professionals reportedly worked on the project putting in a total of 192,000 man-hours to complete the project. Over 4.7 tonnes of fireworks were used for New Year's Eve with 25,000 shots lighting up the sky. These fireworks used over 25,000 metres of cabling, all the way up to tip of Burj Khalifa's spire. Dubai's skyline lit up with a massive display of fireworks across major landmarks in the city, that most restaurants capitalized on. A price list displayed on Dubai Mall's website showed exuberant prices charged for a spot to watch the fireworks and celebration at Burj Khalifa. Starbucks charged AED 500 for a spot. Pharrell Williams, Shah Rukh Khan, DJs Dmitri Vegas and Like Mike, Nancy Ajram, Kendall Jenner, Olivier Rousteing, Selena Gomez and Chanel Iman were spotted in the UAE for New Year's Eve among many other A-list celebrities.
