The Jeddah Science Innovation Club is launching a new program to tap exceptional scientific talent among elementary school students. The program is part of the Ministry of Education campaign to discover the new talent among students. The first science innovation program has been divided in two parts: The first is mandatory and a student is required to put in 96 hours in an academic year. The second part of 48 hours has been made optional. “This program aims at applying an educational technique that allows us to discover talents in the new generation and develop them,” said Abdullah Al-Siyood, supervisor general of the Jeddah Science Innovation Club. The program allows elementary school students to show their knowledge and information in scientific fields such as electronics, environment, biology, computer, physics, mathematics and engineering. “Starting the program from early age aims to let the child discover his own talents and improve them by providing the best environment and equipment,” said Emaad Bin Hamad, program's supervisor. The club has selected professional trained teachers to help children discover their talents and improve them in the right way, he said. The program takes place during the weekdays and students usually get encouraging medals of bronze, silver and gold for their participation.
