RIYADH — Saudi young drifter, Moath Al-Issa, thrilled the spectators with his sensational skills at Al-Reem Circuit here recently to clinch the title in the final round of the inaugural Saudi Star Drifting Championship, organized by Saudi motorsport developer Abdullah Bakhashab. Ahmed Al-Orabi, also in a Nissan Z370, settled for the second place and Ghasan Al-Afandi third. The event was conducted by the Saudi Automotive Federation and sponsored by Nissan Saudi Arabia, Total, Mountain Dew and Alef Alef FM. In all, 19 drivers reached the final round and they proved their prowess while going shoulder to shoulder with many experienced drivers. The victorious Al-Issa said: “I'm very happy and honored to be the winner of the first round of the championship. The competition was tough and challenging but I tried my best to be among the top three. And I am glad I won the first place.” Abdulilah Wazni, general manager for marketing and communications at Nissan Saudi Arabia, said: “The final round of the championship exceeded our expectations and we feel proud to be part of the first Saudi Star Drifting Championship. We will encourage this enthusiasm in motor sport and will always be committed to support the young talents who practice in safe environments in the Kingdom.” Turki Bin Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, Emir of Riyadh Region, patronized the event and presented awards to winners. – SG
