BANGKOK — England's Lee Westwood won the Asian Tour's $1 million Thailand Golf Championship by one shot Sunday after US Open champion Martin Kaymer and third-round leader Marcus Fraser both faltered at the finish. Westwood bogeyed his opening two holes but then reeled off seven birdies in a blistering 10 hole spell from the sixth to complete a superb five-under-par round of 67 for an eight-under total of 280 and the clubhouse lead. He then watched as Australian Fraser, playing on a sponsors invite after missing most of the year because of a wrist problem, blew the opportunity to force a playoff by making a bogey at the par four last to drop back to seven-under. Westwood's Ryder Cup-winning teammate Kaymer also came unstuck on the tricky closing holes at the Amata Spring Country Club, the German making his only bogey of the day on the penultimate, island green 17th to finish tied with Fraser. India's Anirban Lahiri finished the tournament in a share of sixth to end his bid to become Asian Tour's Order of Merit winner. That prize went to American David Lipsky, who has an unassailable lead in the standings over the Indian with only the season ending Dubai Open to come next week. Australian Scott Hend, who finished four back of Westwood in fifth, and American Jonathan Moore, who was tied sixth alongside Lahiri, took the other two places on offer for St Andrews. Chalmers wins Australian PGA Greg Chalmers made par on the seventh hole of a playoff while Adam Scott three-putted for bogey to hand the Australian lefthander the Australian PGA championship. Chalmers, who shot an 8-under 64 Sunday at Royal Pines after trailing the leaders by seven strokes going into the final round, and Scott and Wade Ormsby, who both shot 71, finished with 72-hole totals of 11-under 277. Ormsby dropped out of the playoff when he made par on the third playoff hole, while Chalmers and Scott birdied. Scott missed a 12-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole that would have won it, and did the same on the second extra hole, when Ormsby missed from seven feet. Grace bags title South Africa's Branden Grace kept his nerve while all around him lost theirs to win the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek Country Club in South Africa Sunday. Grace carded a final round 68 for a tournament total of 20-under-par 268. He ended seven shots ahead of compatriot Louis Oosthuizen, who finished with a 69. Denmark's Lucas Bjerregaard, who trailed Grace by just a single shot, carded a 17-over 89 as his game fell to pieces. He eventually tied for 49th. Day, Tringale win Florida shootout Cameron Tringale and Jason Day come away with a par on No. 18 to shoot a final round seven-under 65 and win the Franklin Templeton Shootout. Day and Tringale combined to finish one shot better than defending champions Harris English and Matt Kuchar at 32-under-par 184 total. English and Kuchar used a late push to apply pressure on Day and Tringale, but it was not quite enough. The defending champions carded a 10-under 62 to finish runner-up at 31-under 185. Ian Poulter and 2014 FedEx Cup champion Billy Horschel (61) were chasing the winners all day, but a bogey at the final hole proved to be costly as the pair finished tied for third with Keegan Bradley and Camilo Villegas (61) at 29-under 187. — Agencies
