The Asir Health Department has placed a travel ban on a medical team suspected of mistreating a child, which has left him in a coma since earlier this month. The child, Saad Al-Ameri, was admitted to the emergency room at Asir Central Hospital in Abha for poisoning symptoms, but he was prescribed a wrong injection, according to early medical reports. Nasser Al-Ameri, the child's father, said the pharmacist told him that the injection was suitable for older patients only, but the ER staff assured him it was just fine. After injection, they told him that his son was stable and would not need to be hospitalized, Al-Ameri said. But Saad's case got worse and was then admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, the father said. The doctors found that he was starting to develop pancreas failure symptoms, which promoted them to put him on insulin treatment.
