Swedish referee Martin Hansson, who awarded a disputed penalty for Liverpool in the Champions League this month, says he has received several death threats from fans after officiating domestic first-division matches this season. Hansson told Swedish newspaper Expressen he decided to call his mobile telephone operator and ask for a secret number after the penalty in stoppage time that salvaged a 1-1 draw for Liverpool against Atletico Madrid on Nov. 4. “I have received death threats (after domestic games). It has been horrible and feels very uncomfortable,” Hansson was quoted as saying Wednesday. “I had enough. The phone rang all the time and I received many text messages. I am pretty used to this, but now I've had enough. It has been very threatening.”
