NEW YORK — Brett Connolly scored his second goal of the game early in the third period to break a tie as the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the New York Rangers 6-3 Monday. Tyler Johnson also scored twice, including an insurance goal in the third period, and defenseman Matt Carle added a goal for the Lightning, who received three assists from defenseman Victor Hedman.
Ondrej Palat added an empty-net goal.
The Rangers got goals from Derick Brassard, Jesper Fast and Martin St. Louis. Blue Jackets 2, Panthers 1: The Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Florida Panthers 2-1 thanks to goals from Matt Calvert and Boone Jenner.
The win snapped a six-game losing streak (0-5-1) for the Blue Jackets, who had lost 15 of their previous 17 games.
Jenner's game-winning goal was scored at 10:05 of the third period. The Panthers' strike came from defenseman Aaron Ekblad.
Canadiens 4, Avalanche 3: Max Pacioretty scored a goal with 6:06 left, and the Montreal Canadiens rallied to beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-3.
Defensemen Andrei Markov and P.K. Subban had a goal and an assist each, and goaltender Carey Price made 26 saves for the Canadiens (17-7-2). Montreal left winger Jiri Sekac also scored.
Centers Daniel Briere and Ryan O'Reilly and defenseman Tyson Barrie scored for the Avalanche (9-11-5).
Coyotes 5, Oilers 2: The Edmonton Oilers extended their season-long losing streak to an embarrassing 10 games, dropping a 5-2 home-ice decision to the slumping Arizona Coyotes.
The Coyotes had just one win in their previous six games but they scored four goals in the second period, two of them shorthanded on the same power play, to hand the Oilers their most crushing defeat of the season. The Oilers fell to 6-15-4 while Arizona is 10-12-3.
Ducks 3, Bruins 2: With a dash of persistence and a heavy pinch of penalty killing, the Anaheim Ducks earned a 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins. Ducks defenseman Sami Vatanen and center Devante Smith-Pelly each scored before left winger Matt Beleskey scored the game-winning goal for Anaheim (15-6-5).
Left wingers Brad Marchand and Simon Gagne tallied for Boston. The Ducks extended their lead to 3-1 at 3:43 of the third period and Boston (14-10-1) drew within a goal with 9:40 left to play but could not find another goal. — Reuters
