RIYADH — Police have arrested 210 expatriate workers from different nationalities who failed to comply with residency regulations and were working in car showrooms, Al-Riyadh daily reported. Most of them were working with the knowledge of the Saudi owners of these businesses. Some of the workers had false residency permits while a large number of them did not have any identification on them. Many of them were working for their own benefit, selling and purchasing used cars. Crackdown campaigns are carried out on the directives of Emir of Riyadh Prince Turki Bin Abdullah and seek to curtail the dangers and security threats posed by violators of residency and labor regulations. The campaign was launched Thursday because it is the busiest day of the week in the car showroom business. Preliminary investigations revealed the majority of violators were Yemenis, Syrians and Pakistanis. The violators will be penalized and deported.
