An Ethiopian expatriate was arrested here Wednesday for fleeing from his sponsor and allegedly smuggling 69 Ethiopian workers from Hafr Al-Batin. The man, named only as Barakat, is also being held responsible for the disappearance from his sponsor's company of 130 workers of various nationalities. Saleh Bin Ayid Al-Anezi, the company Public Relations Manager, said that they discovered Barakat's activities when a Ethiopian worker was arrested in Jeddah and revealed that Barakat was working on a water tanker truck. Authorities located Barakat once they put Al-Faisalia water distribution center under surveillance, and the arrest was made after the Expatriates Administration in Jeddah was informed of his whereabouts.
