The General Authority for Civil Aviation has warned that it will cash in bank guarantees paid by airline companies if they fail to operate flights according to schedule. Airlines pay bank guarantees as part of their commitment to Haj schedules and regulations during the pilgrimage season. The authority has said that it will further penalize airline companies that fail to fulfill their schedule commitments – SR10,000 for every arrival and SR15,000 for every departure plus SR20,000 for every unapproved flight carrying Haj pilgrims. A SR20,000-fine will be imposed on airlines making departure flights without the appropriate permits, while anyone assisting any air carrier of pilgrims depart without completing regulatory procedures will suffer a fine of SR10,000. There will also be a SR1000-fine imposed on every pilgrim who arrives after specified Haj arrival dates. The penalties will be imposed on air carriers arriving and departing from King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah and the Prince Muhammed Bin Abdul Aziz International Airport in Madina. – Okaz/SG __
