The Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation performed 50 organ and tissue transplant operations on organ failure patients in the month of October. The operations were made possible by 13 cases of brain death cases whose relatives gave permission for their organs to be used in transplants. Transplants were carried out on 24 kidneys, eight livers, five hearts, and one lung, as well as 10 corneas and a number of heart valves, the highest number of operations conducted by the center in a single month. Dr. Faisal Abdulrahman, director general of the center, said that the coordination between program workers and hospitals enabled them to obtain the agreement from the relatives of the brain death cases to donate their organs to help sufferers from terminal organ failure. – Okaz/SG __
