Saudi Aramco and Ministry of Social Affairs have honored 40 volunteers who had participated in several social programs to support people with special needs. Ali Al-Henaki, Director of Social Affairs in Makkah, and Nabil Bashn, Director of Aramco Affairs Management in the Western Region, honored the Saudi volunteers at a function here on Tuesday night. Both the officials praised the Saudi university students for their selfless efforts in helping the people with special needs. “These volunteers significantly contributed their time and efforts in promoting and enriching the charitable activities aimed at introducing happiness in the hearts of the people with special needs,” said Bashn. Ghassan Jaml, a 22-year old Saudi engineer, is the brain behind the pioneering idea. First, he set up a group called “Friends of the Orphans.” He began his social work two years ago just a month after joining the Aramco program for the orphans. Talking to Saudi Gazette he said it was imperative that the society be involved in the orphans' problems. He said several private and public companies are extending their cooperation to the program for the orphans to make them effective members of society. – SG __
