AS businesses increasingly call on finance professionals to play a greater role in recruiting new staff, there is a need for them to have an awareness of the issues they will face in hiring employees. To help meet this need, ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) held a ‘workshop on winning interviews' in Riyadh recently. More than 30 ACCA members attended the event at the Marriott Courtyard, which was an initiative of the ACCA members' advisory committee in Riyadh. Muhammad Farhan, Associate Director, KPMG Riyadh, and Chair of ACCA's members advisory committee in Riyadh, welcomed delegates to the event at which Dr. Nadeem Bhatti, Training Consultant, SIDF, spoke about issues such as: how to prepare for different interview situations; how to control the interview and how to make objective hiring decisions based on facts, not opinion. Muhammed Farhan said: “As more organizations are now including accountants in recruitment panels, and because of their central role in evaluating labor and benefits costs – the largest expense in most companies – we thought it was important to provide training for our members on for Human Resources functions - especially recruitment. We will continue to provide training in this and other areas to ensure that our members can fully support businesses in their key areas.” — SG
