The General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) has set the month of Muharram, which begins on Dec. 29, as the date for laying the foundations of new terminals at the King Abdul Aziz International Airport here. Eng. Abdullah Ruheimi, president of the GACA, said the terminals would include 42 departure gates with 74 connecting gangways serving a range of aircraft types. Aircraft hangars and a new control tower are also planned, plus an aircraft loading area capable of handling three million tons per year, and car parking space for 25,000 vehicles. The first stage of construction also includes the railway station zone, maintenance facility areas, road networks and aircraft corridors. – Okaz/SG __
