A member of the public in Madina has accused the Civil Defense of failing to save his home from heavy flooding brought on by Sunday night's rains in the region. Eid Al-Otaibi has asked authorities to investigate the incident which began when his son made an emergency call after torrential rains threatened the family house in the Jarf District of the city. When Civil Defense officials reportedly said they were “busy” and that the municipality should be contacted, Al-Otaibi junior called his brother to help him rescue their mother from the house, after which they had to hire water tankers to pump water out of the house. Colonel Ali Bin Attallah Al-Otaibi, Director of Civil Defense in Madina, said they had received a call saying that rainwaters had flooded a house and said that the Civil Defense was responsible for rescue operations while the municipality oversaw the pumping of waters. The official promised, however, to look into the matter and said that if any negligence on the part of the Civil Defense was proven then disciplinary action would be taken against erring officials. – Okaz/SG __
