RIYADH — The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs has directed all municipalities to implement directives that will ensure 5 percent of public parking is set aside for the handicapped. The ministry stressed that a handicapped parking space should be twice the size a normal space and that sidewalks should not have any obstacles to allow for free movement. In addition, the ministry has enforced certain designs of bathrooms, doors and escalators for the benefit of the disabled.
