Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH — Some of those responsible for posting videos and clips on social media calling on Saudi citizens to rise against the government were mental patients and drug addicts, official sources told Al-Hayat daily. Others were of a sane mind but they live abroad, said the sources. Some of those involved in spreading these videos have been arrested recently. Investigations and psychological tests apparently revealed they suffered from various mental problems, while others were found to be abusing drugs. They will be tried according to cybercrime laws for allegedly trying to destabilize the country and affiliating themselves with terrorist groups, said the sources. It was discovered that certain individuals and organizations targeting the unity and security of the Kingdom had been training Saudis to spread such videos, they said. The sources said authorities would continue to crack down on the promoters of such clips and bring them to justice.
