Pakistan is now facing a new tragedy – over 70,000 people, including 30,000 children, have been left homeless in the quake-hit Balochistan. Financial difficulties and lack of safety is making the situation worse. Health workers have also warned that due to inadequate medical services deadly diseases are on the rise. Thousands of quake-affected people in Balochistan are still waiting for winterized tents with temperatures dropping below freezing point at nights and threat of snowstorms looming large. The National Disaster Management Authority accepted that no winterized tents have been so far sent to affected areas. The victims complain that the tents provided to them do not protect them from the freezing cold weather. So far only Saudi Arabia from among the ‘Friends of Pakistan' has given a $10 million grant for the quake victims. Khawaja Umer Farooq Jeddah __
