I am writing with regard to the article “Women in the Haia” (June 27). The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (Haia) is considering whether it should employ women and if female staff members should join their male counterparts and work as field officers. In Thailand, bus drivers and their wives are employed as drivers and ticket sellers and they are assigned to work on the same bus. It would be a good idea to hire a male Haia member and his wife or daughter to sit in the Haia vehicle and to work in the field checking violators. Otherwise, women staff members would need to sit with unrelated Haia men or taxi drivers to go from place to place for their duty. Avid1111, Online response
