RIYADH — About 16 million Saudi men and women do not have medical insurance, acting Health Minister Adel Fakeih told the Shoura Council on Wednesday. He said these include government employees, students and unemployed citizens. “Only 2.7 million Saudis working for the private sector are covered by medical insurance,” he said. Fakeih said the majority of the 7 million expatriates in the Kingdom are medically insured. Members of the council's committee on health and environment affairs asked the minister about many pending files, including the construction of five medical cities ordered by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
