Work on the second industrial city in Jeddah will begin in three months and the selection of application for setting up factories will be taken in due course, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabi'ah, Director General of Saudi Organization for Industrail Estates and Technology Zones, said here on Friday. He said about 400 factories will dot the city's 8 million square meter area. These factories, he said, will create 27,000 jobs, of which 4,000 are for specialists in industrial zones. About 10 percent of the city's area will be allocated for houses equipped with all necessary services. Drinking water, waste water and industrial water processing will also be provided, he added. “Electricity, water and wastewater contracts were signed as other basic and supplementary requirements and a high level of security will be provided in accordance with the project budget of SR1.7 billion,” he said. The second industrial city will be located 35 km south of Jeddah on Leeth-Jizan Road. – Okaz/SG __
