RIYADH – SABIC has signed a letter of award with Henning Larsen Architects for the conceptual, basic and detailed engineering of the new SABIC main building at the New City Center in Jubail Industrial City. The letter of award was signed by Omar A. Al-Amoudi, SABIC Shared Services Executive Vice President, and Jacop Kurek, International Projects Partner, at a function held in Jubail on May 28. Commenting on the project, Al-Amoudi said “the new SABIC building will be built with contemporary architectural designs and engineering standards, anticipating and meeting our future needs. Its eco-friendly design will provide a healthy and natural work environment to meet the requirements of our growing number of employees, who are our future, and on whom we rely for the smooth running of our day-to-day operations.” He said that the building will provide offices and facilities for administrative staff and management over an area of 6.64 hectares. “We expect it to be a major landmark in the Jubail Industrial City.” The engineering phase of the project is planned to be completed by the first quarter of 2016 and the overall project completion is expected by 2019. — SG
