TAIF – The Health Services Council has approved a number of regulatory measures for amputation of limbs in private health facilities. These include the condition for working round-the-clock and the availability of specific specializations in surgery. Sources told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the regulatory measures include listing the hospitals allowed to amputate limbs. They will be linked with the emergency rooms and ambulatory teams so that the hospital is known and cases are transported speedily to the relevant hospital. The sources said that the regulatory measures include the availability of surgical specializations like orthopedics, plastic surgery and vascular surgery in the hospital so that they can deal with different cases and transport the cases speedily. About 700 amputation cases are recorded annually because of traffic accidents, Ministry of Health statistics said.
