DAMMAM — A study conducted by the Marine Studies section at King Fahd University for Petroleum and Minerals has recommended that oil and gas exploration missions in the northern part of the Red Sea be stopped. Saudi Aramco was planning exploring the northern part of the Red Sea for oil and gas deposits and had commissioned the university to conduct a study on the effects of such exploration. The head of the study, Dr. Mohammad Qurban, said there are numerous sites in the Red Sea that are biologically rich and contain a verity of species. He added that Saudi Aramco has implemented the study's findings and has stopped plans to explore the area.
