HOFOUF — The lives of 16 people have been saved after the families of five brain dead patients agreed to donate the vital organs of their beloved ones, thanks to efforts exerted by the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation (SCOT). Ten kidney transplant operations, four liver transplant operations and two open-heart surgeries were performed in different parts of the Kingdom following consent from the families. SCOT coordinator Hassan Al-Khenani said the rate of consents for organ donations has increased with many families signing the organ donation cards since the start of this year.
