CAIRO – Interim President Adly Mansour is determined to allow Egypt's president-elect Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to start his presidential term as soon as the official results of this week's elections are announced, Mansour's legal adviser Ali Awad announced. Awad, in a statement to Al-Ahram daily newspaper, denied rumors of the possibility of delaying the presidential inauguration until the parliamentary elections law is drafted. Mansour won't delay the auguration as a result of the draft law not being passed, Awad affirmed. The draft law is currently being put to a national dialogue. Egypt's Presidential Election Commission (PEC) is yet to announce the official results of the poll that took place on May 26-28. However, unofficial results, announced by judges presiding over polling stations nationwide, show that former military chief Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi won with an overwhelming majority. El-Sisi garnered over 23 million votes, around 96 percent, while his sole contender, leftist Hamdeen Sabahi, got a mere 3.5 percent. PEC will announce the official results early this coming week. Meanwhile, a UAE minister said El-Sosi's election president represented “new hope” for the most populous Arab country. “We all need to support Egypt as a nation and its people ... Egypt and its people are dear to us,” said Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash Gargash on Twitter. — Agencies
