MAHAYIL ASIR — A lion that escaped from a truck on Maarid Street in Mahayil Asir on Wednesday created panic in the neighborhood for more than three hours, local newspapers reported Thursday. Eyewitnesses said after escaping from its cage on the truck, the lion took refuge in one of the car showrooms nearby. Police, trainers and Red Crescent paramedics arrived at the scene and subdued the animal after three hours. The witnesses said the lion had a leg injury and it was not difficult for the trainers to take the beast back to its cage. Large crowds of anxious onlookers gathered at the scene, with many of them panicking. — SG
