Companies that invade personal privacy by sending unsolicited SMS messages are being investigated. If found guilty, their penalty – which varies according to the nature of the transgression – can go as high as a SR5 million fine, said a source at the Communication and Information Technology Commission (CITC). CITC's Telecommunication Dispute Settlement Committee is conducting the investigation. Other penalties will see connections being cut and fines for people who use mobile phones to make nuisance calls. Telecom companies STC and Mobily recently intercepted over 9 million spam messages, most of which came from abroad. – Okaz __
