THE Red Bull Barakos pulled the rug from under the highly fancied Talk N Text Tropang Texters, 104-102, Wednesday night for their third straight win in the KFC-PBA Philippine Cup. It was the second giant-killing act for the Barakos as Red Bull also downed the mighty San Miguel Beermen last Saturday. The victory enabled Red Bull to tie Talk N Text and two other teams Rain or Shine and Air21 - from fourth to seventh place in the standings, with the four teams having an even 3-3 win-loss slate. The first game of Wednesdays PBA doubleheader at the Araneta Coliseum also ended in spectacular fashion as Gary David buried a three-pointer with zero time left to lift the Air21 Express to a scintillating 109-107 victory over the league-leading Alaska Aces. With one second left in the game and the Express trailing, the six-foot-one guard squeezed through a perfectly set screen, received the inbound pass from teammate Ranidel de Ocampo and knocked in the game-winning trey off Alaskas Willie Miller. David finished with 18 points, including three-of-seven from beyond the three-point arc. The victory was the third straight for the Express, raising their record to an even 3-3. The Express led by 12 points with 4:54 remaining, but the Aces unleashed a searing rally capped by a Miller shot that put Alaska ahead by a whisker, 107-106 with a second left in the game. But then David was there to spoil Alaska's day. The Aces suffered their second straight loss, losing their solo leadership in the standings as they fell to 4-2, in a tie with the San Miguel Beermen for the top spot. Alaska dominated the first quarter, leading 37-23, as Joe De Vance knocked in 15 points on 6-of-6 shooting. The Aces widened their lead to 39-23 early in the second quarter. But that was as far as they could go as the Express came charging back. A 15-2 blitz put Air21 in the lead for the first time. Air21 seemed to have the game under wraps when Ocampo scored a basket that padded the Express lead to 104-92, with 5:54 left in the game. But Alaska had one great run left as Joe De Vance teamed up with Miller to pull within 106-105 with 62 seconds left.
