The flying ambulance program will be grounded until the funds take off from the Ministry of Finance, said Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, President of the Saudi Red Crescent Society (SRCS), on Wednesday during his meeting with the SRCS staff in Riyadh Once started, the program will help save many lives lost in traffic accidents on the Kingdom's roads, he said. The SRCS has been severely understaffed despite job availability, he said. Only 18 people applied for 580 jobs offered this year, he said, calling for specialized emergency medicine colleges and institutes within the Saudi universities to support the SRCS with the manpower. And women may soon help too. The SRCS is studying women's employment, he said, denying recent reports of 47 women first aid helpers in the society. New programs will be implemented in the mechanism of rescue and help to reach accident locations in record time, the Prince said. A medical watch will be sold at a minimal price to connect the person with the SRCS ambulance service in case of emergency, he said. When the person needs assistance, it is only one button click away, he added. The watch will send the person's information to the SRCS emergency department to rush more improved and faster medical service. – Okaz __
