Dubai DIP gets huge demand for housing amid construction boom
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 01 - 05 - 2014

DUBAI — Dubai Investments Park (DIP) — the largest integrated commercial, industrial and residential community in the Middle East and a subsidiary of Dubai Investments PJSC — gets huge demand for its labor and staff accommodation facilities amid the heightened construction activity in the neighborhood.
DIP's proximity to the Expo 2020 site is fuelling the demand for its labor and staff accommodation complex, built as per international standards and a testimony to DIP's commitment to human capital and resources.
The DIP labor accommodation zone, which currently has a total of 225 plots for staff accommodations – from apartments to labor camps — accommodates over 90,000 people. Specifically fitted with the best of recreational facilities – both indoor and outdoor, the labor accommodations within DIP are well served by public transport facilities as well as the day-to-day lifestyle necessities such as supermarkets, shopping centers, ATMs, clinics and mosques.
“Dubai's successful bid to host Expo 2020 has attracted a lot of construction and business activity to this part of the Emirate, and there are has been a huge demand for quality accommodation within DIP with its closeness to the Expo site. We are well equipped to handle any kind of industrial, manufacturing or labor accommodation requirements arising out of this,” said Omar Al-Mesmar, General Manager of DIP.
“DIP continues to grow as per its envisioned goal to become a self-contained city within a city. Providing good living conditions for laborers and staff has always been a priority for DIP. The high-standard labor and staff accommodation at DIP complements Dubai's all-round growth and development strategy in line with its emergence as a world-class business and tourism hub,” said Mesmar.
The first-of-its kind development in the region which set new standards for labor as well as staff accommodation way back in 2001, the DIP labor accommodations maintain the best health and cleanliness standards, with regular inspections by site supervisors as well as Dubai Municipality officials. General safety standards are of the highest levels with self-closing and smoke proof fire exit doors, secure staircase exits and openings sealed with fire sealants.
The materials used in construction are as per the specifications of the Civil Defense. Smoke and heat detectors as well as fire extinguishers undergo periodic maintenance to ensure reliability. The kitchen area is conveniently located on the ground floor and away from the sleeping area. Authorized LP gas companies connect a central LPG system to fixed LPG tank installation adding to the safety with regular maintenance.
Rubbish and trash build up is maintained at minimal level and removed daily. There are strict rules against storage in pump room, electric rooms, or under fire exit stairs as well as storage of hazardous materials. Occupants are all given adequate training in first-aid and firefighting.
Lavish landscaping with beautiful green surroundings makes it an ideal place to live and work at. DIP lives up to its promise of being one of the most environment oriented developments in the region. To achieve this, they maintain a 10 percent to 20 percent landscaping area for the staff accommodation plot.
Excellent healthcare facilities are ensured for the staff at a DIP clinic conveniently located near the camps with top-notch first aid facilities. DIP also provides a 24-hour patrol service to ensure a safe and secure environment with emergency numbers to contact DIP security round-the-clock. — SG
