Mutari and Sultan Kaylo emerged winners in third and fourth rounds respectively of the Toyota Karting Race 2008 at In 10 So in Al-Serafi Mega Mall here on Wednesday and Thursday. Al-Mutari scotched a marvelous challenge in 40 rounds of the race, clocking 00:21.154. Starting from fourth he passed all drivers to stay ahead. The race was mainly sponsored by Toyota and supported by Mobil 1 and IN 10 SO. It was held under the supervision of the Saudi Committee for Motorsport and the General Presidency of Youth Welfare (GPYW). The third round was full of action with professional drivers Hassan Al-Sharbatly, Al-Bara'a Hakeem, Ahmad Al-Nahdi and Khaled Sharbatly making it very interesting. Khaled Al-Sharbatly finished second on 00:22:123, followed by Omar Kazaz (00:23:165). The fourth round started with Sultan Kaylo in the first position, after the qualification round. He was followed by Hassan Al-Sharbatly, Abdullah Al-Mutari, Ahmad Al-Nahdi, Hamad Khan and Ra'aed Batawi. The race was off to a frantic start as all the drivers trying to pass the other one. Racing at the front of the field, Sultan Kaylo maintained the lead over Hassan Al-Sharbatly and Abdullah Al-Mutari to emerge winner. By lap 40, Sultan Kaylo clcked 00:13:42:37 to be the champion. Hassan Al-Sharbatly clawed his way into second place on 00:13:59:90. Abdullah Al-Mutari completed the podium as third on 00:14:02:69. The overall standing after the fourth round: 1. Abdullah Al-Mutari 72 points, 2. Hassan Sharbatly 42, 3. Sultan Kailo 41, 4. Ahmad Al-Nahdi 36. The fifth and sixth rounds will decide the Toyota karting champion 2008. Waleed Hambishi, ALJ Marketing Manager, congratulated the winners and expressed his satisfaction over the successful championship. He also congratulated Abdullah Bakhashab organizing the competition and bringing the soul of F1 to the Kingdom. Bakhashab said that the karting races would give a big boost to the tourism sector in the Kingdom. “The competition has put the country on the international map of sporting events,” he said. He expressed his hope that international karting races also would be held in the country soon. __
