Published in The Saudi Gazette on 29 - 04 - 2014

About 45 percent of UAE residents use GITEX shopper to purchase all their IT products, an Acer survey says.
The survey also revealed that purchasing decisions were swayed in equal measure by brand loyalty and deals on offer during shopper, while only 12 percent considered the price of the products as the defining factor.
About 40 percent of UAE residents are looking to buy a combination of a tablet, Smartphone or a tablet 2-in-1 PC, whereas 20 percent are looking to buy all three.
Another 10 percent are in the market for a 2-in-1tablet PC. Smartphones are an agenda for 15 percent of residents, and another 15 percent are inclined toward a tablet.
The survey highlights the rise in adoption of touch devices in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), even as Acer makes a host of its touch enabled devices available at GITEX shopper, including the popular R7, elegant S7 Ultrabook along with a host of android and windows based tablets.
“GITEX shopper is all about the consumer. Our range of mobility products is designed for the modern day explorer. Multiple device usage, connectivity, touch & type are some of the key drivers today,” said Sonali Bhatia, Product Business Unit Manager, Acer Middle East.
“Not only do the consumers have a larger bouquet of Acer products to choose from, but they can also satisfy their desire for design esthetics, specifications, and choice on the operating systems,” Continuing to focus on offering a more intuitive and natural user experience, Acer devices feature full touch & type duality — the best productivity and content consumption mix.
The award-winning Aspire R7 notebook now includes the latest 4th generation Intel processor, and an Acer Active Pen to further redefine the notebook touch experience.
Designed to provide the best environment for both touch and typing, the R7 features a repositioned keyboard and high-definition touchscreen mounted on a revolutionary “Ezel hinge” that allows it to flip, reverse, lie flat or float.
Also available at shopper is Acer's next-generation 13.3-inch Aspire S7Ultrabook. The new S7 Ultrabook has improved battery life for all-day computing, a refined electroluminescent (EL) backlit keyboard for more natural typing, and 2nd generation Acer twinair cooling with less fan noise.
Acer's full spectrum android and windows tablet will also be available at shopper, Including the W4, an 8-inch tablet featuring IPS and Zero Air Gap technologies, which provide a sharp display with enhanced clarity and brightness.
In addition, the Iconia W4 is also equipped with Windows 8.1 and the 4th Generation Intel Atom processor, offering faster tablet performance as well as battery life up to 10 hours for web browsing and up to 8 hours for video playback1.
