Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA), a new cricket body set up by teams and officials who formed the core of Jeddah Cricket League (JCL), held its first official meeting at the NCB Sports Club in Al-Rehab district here on Tuesday. The new association got a shot in the arm on the opening day with 34 teams registering with it for the inaugural season. The teams are: Saleheen, IDB, Reel & Rom, Johnson Blue, KAIA, ATS, Hyderabad Boys, ICC, Jet Airways, Ace Travels, UCC, Khaiber, Reel & Rom Hawks, Juffali, Abid Sheikh, Zultrac, Deccan Blues, Friends, Panda, Zinda Tilismath, Hyderabad Green, Attieh Steel, Kanoo, Shalimar, AAA, Natco, Saudi Majestique, Sadafco, Ravi, Kanoo Travel, Eagle, Young Athletes, Zultec, Bank Al-Ahli. Six more teams have shown their willingness to join JCA. The program began with the recitation from the Holy Qur'an by Azmath Ali, captain and manager of Al-Saleheen Cricket Club. Syed Majeedul Hasan, who conducted the meeting, gave a brief introduction of JCA and its goals. Aizaz Ashraf Toor, a JCA ad hoc committee member and a senior manager at NCB, informed the gathering that he has been appointed by the NCB Sports Committee as the coordinator for NCB's North Obhur grounds. He also read messages from NCB officials Firaz Al-Turki, head of Corporate Sector Operations and head of NCB Clubs Sports Committee, Ahmed Al-Jelani, NCB Clubs Manager, and Khalid Al-Sairy, Manager Real Estate and Fixed Assets, which clarified that the grounds at Obhur are under the management and control of NCB Sports Committee. A.A. Merchant, a senior cricketer and manager of the Kanoo cricket clubs, talked in detail about the formation of JCA and its organizational formalities. Merchant said that once the ad hoc committee approves the constitution, which is being drafted, it will be placed before the general body meeting for approval. Elections are to be held within 90 days. Aijaz Ahmed Khan, also an ad hoc committee member and media manager of JCA, informed that the season will kick off with festival matches. He also presented an annual JCA plan. Sayeedul Hassan delivered the vote of thanks. The 7-member ad hoc committee: Ahmed Al-Jeelani (Chairman), Zafar Ali Khan, Aizaz Ashraf Toor, Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Syed Majeedul Hasan, Azizullah Sheriff and Mohammed Akhtar Hussain. __
