Saudi Gazette report HAFR AL-BATIN — The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) will question a Saudi arrested for allegedly insulting God, the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions, Alsharq daily reported. Haia sources said video clips uploaded to websites would be the basis for the questioning and that other concerned bodies will also take their own action. The video clips apparently contain direct insults to God and the Prophet's companions and the suspect is expected to face a tough investigation and trial unless it is proven that he was mentally ill. Haia members arrested the 30-year-old Saudi who lives in Al-Qaissoumah Thursday evening. The man, is allegedly receiving support from certain interest groups to finance his activities. Saudis in Hafr Al-Batin and Qaisoumah denounced the incident and said the suspect's behavior did not represent their beliefs. Sheikh Abdullah Al-Enezi, a scholar at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, said blaspheming Islam is not a new occurrence and such incidents have happened since the days of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He noted that there were many Qur'anic verses that have warned of such behavior and scholars have always taken strong action in such cases.
